The Bruneval Raid

The Battle of Normandy is the most popular phase of the Second World War, but before the Allies could land in Normandy on 6 June 1944, military operations had already taken place on Norman soil.

The ‘Bruneval Raid’ was a precursor. While Britain had just escaped the threat of invasion, it struck the continent with a combined operation that brought back valuable information about German radar systems. The disruption of the information provided by these radars would be decisive for the surprise effect of D-Day a few years later.
