Luxury reproduction of the famous Irvin leather jacket worn by British bomber crews.

The RAF FiveStar leather aviation jacket is based on an original four-panel jacket from the late 1940s/41s, with two additional side pockets to make it more functional, while retaining the collar strap.

The collar strap was designed for open cockpit flying, where the strap was pulled over the head to rest on the forehead and help keep the collar up. It was later removed from jackets. To preserve originality, the FiveStar Leather RAF Flight Jacket has been fitted with replicated heavy-duty zippers, on which the pull tab has been molded from an original pull tab, to its exact size.

FiveStar Leather has developed a special sheepskin leather for these jackets. Overall, FiveStar Leather's RAF aviator jackets feature authentic details.

Did you know?

Known as the "RAF Jacket", it takes its name from Leslie Irvin, the inventor who designed it in the early 1930s.

First produced at the Letchworth factory in 1931, the design was officially approved by the Air Ministry.

In 1932, the jacket became standard equipment for all RAF pilots.

Although originally produced by the Irvin Parachute Co, demand required work to be subcontracted to a number of manufacturers during the Second World War. This explains some of the design differences, such as the sheepskins used, and the different colors.

The jackets had four panels due to the shortage of materials during the war, and later jackets retained this originality.
