This historically inspired sweatshirt pays tribute to Fort Dix, named in honour of Major General John Adams Dix, a veteran of the War of 1812 and the American Civil War. Construction began in June 1917. Camp Dix, as it was known at the time, served as a training and transit base for units during the First World War. Although the camp served as a transit area for the New York embarkation port, it did not fall directly under its control, remaining under the direct jurisdiction of the War Department. Camp Dix became Fort Dix on 8 March 1939, and the facility became a permanent army post. During and after the Second World War, the fort resumed the same duties it had performed during the First World War.
