AIRFIX - QuickBuild - 1:35 Sherman Firefly

What is QUICKBUILD? Airfix QUICKBUILD is an exciting range of brick-based models that provide an introduction to model building for children aged 6 and over. The pre-colored parts simply snap together to build an impressive model, which can then be decorated using the included stickers. 

No paint or glue is needed to make these fantastic models look like the real thing, and once completed, there's no trace of brick assembly. Once built, they're tough enough to be used as toys, or smart enough to be used as display models. 

Each model comes with a full set of easy-to-follow full-color instructions, free-rolling wheels for cars and tanks, and display stands for all aircraft. 

The Sherman Firefly is designed in 1:35 scale, the turret is fully poseable, and the wheels and tracks are also movable.

When the Allies began to leave the D-Day beaches and enter the Normandy countryside, they knew they'd face stiff opposition from German units. With the Firefly, the Allies now had a tank capable of taking on Tigers and Panthers. Usually deployed in a ratio of one Firefly to four standard Shermans, German tank commanders quickly learned to spot the Firefly's longer gun and try to eliminate these tanks first.

To make identification more difficult, British crews camouflaged the fronts of their guns with clear paint, giving their tanks the appearance of a standard Sherman equipped with a 75 mm gun, hoping that this deception would give them enough time to fire the first shot in an engagement.
